Miriam Kassow, MS, LMSW
Miriam (She/Her) is a licensed psychotherapist. Originally from West Hartford, CT, Miriam has called New York City her home for the past 10 years. Her practice as a clinician is deeply rooted in empathy and compassion for all clients. Miriam believes that the client is the expert of their own lived experience, and that her role as a therapist is to help the client understand themselves and their lives more deeply and meaningfully. Pulling from several different modalities and orientations such as attachment-focused work, psychodynamic theory, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy and Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Miriam is passionate about supporting her clients to find agency in leading the lives they aim to live. Miriam considers herself a life-long student above all else and is constantly seeking to expand her knowledge and expertise as a clinician.
Miriam’s approach has worked well for various needs, including (but not limited to) survivors of trauma, mood and anxiety disorders, body-focused repetitive behaviors, and those seeking to explore their sexuality and/or gender.
Outside of her practice, Miriam loves to read, practice yoga, explore New York City on foot, and perfect new recipes in her Brooklyn kitchen. Miriam also loves to sing and performs as a cantorial soloist. She received her graduate degree in social work from New York University and her undergraduate degree in International Studies with a Peace and Conflict concentration from Muhlenberg College.
